Georgian Dublin Walking Tour

There are 5 Georgian squares in Dublin. These are all beautiful squares with their own parks. It shows the opulence of how these houses were built and the attention to detail by the architects.

The houses in these Squares were in high demand by the wealthy people of the day to have their own town houses.

Mountjoy Square

Built during the 1800’s. This is the only perfect square of the Georgian Squares. This square is considered to be one the finest squares in Europe representing the Georgian period.

Parnell Square

This square was built also during 1800’s. The square is named after Charles Stewart Parnell – an Irish Patriot. It includes the Hugh Lane Art Gallery and the Garden of Remembrance.

Merrion Square

Build again during the 1800’s. This square became very popular when the Duke of Leinster had his Dublin home on Merrion Square. Today this house is Leinster House – our house of government. Adjacent is beautiful Merrion Square park which has a statue of Oscar Wilde.

St. Stephen’s Green Park is absolutely a must, it is so full of very interesting people, at least a half day tour.
